Apinder (aka) Danny is running a series titled What Did I Learn This Week every Friday. Please visit his site to enjoy his thoughts and posts.
I decided I will do a similar one this week. No enlightenment promised though. May be, some entertainment.
As you know, I have been trying my hands at conjuring up some snacks – because, if I can cook something and it comes alright, it has to be magic. This week I took up Potato Chips or Crisps, depending on which part of the world you are in.
I googled, understood the overview of what I needed to do and sliced the potatoes into thin pieces. Mixed it with a little bit of oil, salt, chilli powder and laid them on a plate and microwaved it. When I took it out, the chips looked splendid.

So what does it have to do anything with me learning anything? When I flipped over the chips, this is what I found.

I had used a tissue paper over the plate to prevent the potato from sticking to the plate, which was never mentioned in any of the links I visited. But, it never occurred to my common sense that if a potato can stick to the plate, it can stick very well to a tissue paper. With the lesson learnt, I discarded the first batch and proceeded to make some without tissue paper. It turned out well.

Moral of the story:
- Think before you do something
- Once you have learnt the lesson, apply it and move on.
A lesson for lifetime 😛
Love that! I mean not what happened to the potato chips…but the lesson. Will you promise to try again and share?
When I first saw the title of this post, I did a double take and thought I got confused. Wait, Danny does the Friday learned this post, doesn’t he…Ha ha ha.
Learning something is always good. And any post about potato chips is awesome.
