I am back with another post about lockdown cooking. This time the challenge was not to use the microwave oven and to use the stovetop. I have been making some quick snacks using the microwave oven. I am going to shamelessly plug them down here.
Last Friday, I had bought two big aubergines so that my wife can make Baingan Bharta (Smoky eggplant stir fry – as I found mentioned in some site). But when the weekend came, my family duly reminded me that it has been a while since I attempted to make something. So I set out to make baingan bharta which can be served along with roti and while my wife made roti and a backup side dish just in case my cooking failed. By now you might have already found out that the attempt was not a failure. Otherwise, it would have vanished without any evidence.

I followed this recipe by Tarla Dalal with slight modification as per ingredients that were available. It turned out decent. When my daughter came by to taste it, I asked her
“What do you have to do before you eat?”
“Pray and thank God”
“That’s for your mom’s cooking. For mine, you should do that after eating. Before eating, you should take a picture”
“Why do you take picture?”
“So that I can share this is on my blog and let the handful of people who follow me know that I am good at this”
“But, how will they know how does it taste?”
“Exactly. Welcome to the world of social media”
But, it did taste decent and was well received. I need to enrol for a crash course in mobile photography, though

Hope you all had a good weekend.
Hahaha…that’s what I say about all the master chef shows 😀 Who knows how it tastes 😛 😀
haha. true
Excellent work Sada, looks lush. My mum cooks her Baingan on the stove top..but my wife cooks it in the oven, two contrasting schools of thought. And what do I do? I just consume…
Thanks Danny. Consumer is king, you can demand how you want it 😀
